TechCrunch don't like friendfeed. This post explains that, and earlier they posted a comment on friendfeed (actually a Tweet on TechCrunch's favorite: Twitter that double posted to FF) that said the same.
Anyways, the graph in this post are interesting, it shows that friendfeed has still some catch up to do before it eats up Twitter with bones and all.

With Twitter down all the time, the super-early adopters are getting frustrated and looking to FriendFeed as their salvation. let’s not forget that there are other forces afoot on the Internet at large, specifically the dream of true data portability, that could in turn kill FriendFeed. |
