Google Scribe - awesome autotyping service!
Wow! This worked really great! A bit slow though.
Just install the bookmarklet and activate it just before you want to type something in your Browser. I use it for example now when typing this note.
So in other words, you can use it for blogging, amping, tweeting or what ever.
Really cool.
To get the bookmarklet. Hit "Try Google Scribe" button, then you find the Bookmarklet down below of the page. Drag it to your browser bookmarks bar.
Then click on it everytime you want to type.

We've heard about Palm's big plans for webOS 2.0 -- heck, we've even seen a handful of pictures here or there. And now we've been graced with lots, lots more.
Plenty of extra services are on display, including favorites like Dropbox and head-scratchers like MobileMe (we know Palm has something of an Apple complex, but the benefits of MobileMe are pretty minimal beyond iPhone integration).

my6sense launches the world’s most intelligent personalized stream reader for Android - I've used it on iPhone
my6sense launches the world’s most intelligent personalized stream reader for Android
Company expands reach of “Digital Intuition” app to deliver the ultimate social and news content experience.
TEL AVIV, September 2 2010 – my6sense, developers of the world’s first personalized stream reader that uses 'Digital Intuition' technology, announced the launch of its Android app, aimed to revolutionize the way we receive and discover content. Extending the reach of the popular program to the world’s fastest-growing mobile platform, my6sense is also the first company to add ranking support for Google’s social sharing network, Buzz. The free Android application is available immediately for download at the Android marketplace. (LINK)
Unlike other applications, which rely on editorial input, social referrals, or popularity, the my6sense smart reader application intuitively senses what's important to each user and prioritizes content for everyone as an individual — making content consumption seamless, efficient, and most importantly, personally relevant.
Using the company’s leading ‘Digital Intuition’ ranking technology and equipped with rich, intuitive features, the new app transforms users’ social and news streams into a powerful and unique content discovery experience.
One of the major features that enhance this approach to more efficient contentis a dashboard widgetwhich dynamically surfaces users’ most valuable informationnuggets. This givesusers ‘Instant Intuition’ – immediate access to view their most-relevant content and updates directly on the home screen of their Android device.
Additional killer features include: a main channel displaying the user’s most important updates and content from all sources (news, RSS, blogs and social streams), streams of personalized top content which users can view with just one click from Social Networks such as Facebook and Twitter, fresh content packages from a wide array of topics and a search tool. On top of that, users can share items directly from the app, and there is no limit to the number of feed subscriptions one can have – as my6sense’s intelligent personalization engine can take on the challenge of information overload, surfacing the very best and most relevant content.
Moreover, my6sense is delighted to announce that the application offers support for Google’s new social network, Buzz, leveraging the service’s powerful API. The result is the first application in the world to prioritize Google Buzz entries, doing so in a clean and intuitive way for the mobile device.
As the world of information morphs from a web of static pages to real-time streams, my6sense's groundbreaking digital intuition technology tames the vast amount of information cluttering news feeds and social sites. The application’s hyper-personalized streams allow users to focus on the content they want to see, at the right time and in the right context. The company has enjoyed significant success with its iPhone application, and is excited to join the millions of smartphone users who have made Android their choice for mobile computing.
"my6sense’s digital intuition technology discovers the finest nuances of your preferences and behavior — and makes sure the right updates, ideas, insights, and news will find you when you want them most," said Barak Hachamov, Founder & Chairman, my6sense.“Android customers have made their platform choice to avoid limits on what they can or cannot do with their phone, and we too want to avoid limiting your experience to traditional streams based on time or simplistic filters.”
Personalization is claimed these days by few content curation tools and social streams. The majority of these tools base their rankings almost entirely on global and socially-local popularity of the information. Instead, my6sense views various popularity factors as only one piece of a very complicated puzzle that forms individual preferences of each one of us. In fact, the importance of popularity may significantly vary between the users, and even for the same user in different contexts. Focusing on true personalization of information delivery, my6sense intelligently (and transparently) considers each user's natural information consumption behavior to truly understand what and in what context that user would like to see first. As a result, the personal "Digital Intuition" agent of each user at my6sense learns to mimic the human ranking function of its owner, providing him with an enhanced content experience.
In addition to the company’s new Android application and existing iPhone application, my6sense recently announced their Attention API. The API allows developers to harness my6sense as a customization engine, personalizing their content stream for their users. The new wave of social recommendation feed readers, for example, could offer hyper-personalization. Two companies leveraging my6sense’s personalization service include a business social networking site in the UK and the largest mobile operator in Israel.
About my6sense
my6sense is a leader and pioneer in a new service category ‘hyper-personalized streams’, which uses 'Digital Intuition' technology to tame the overwhelming amount of content that flows into your personal space. my6sense surfaces your most relevant information at the right time and the right context - connecting you with what matters to you most, and providing you with a sharper and better way to experience your social and RSS streams on your mobile device. my6sense is a privately held company with headquarters in HerzliyaPituach, Israel. Google won't release Google TV internationally this year
Google TV sounds interesting but I really hope it will not be US only.
Found via this tweet:
http://twitter.com/informatory/statuses/23247261729
Google CEO Eric Schmidt has reiterated the company's plans to release its TV product in the US this fall. Schmidt made the comments during the IFA show in Berlin, noting that Google TV would go international next year. Additionally, he said the company would begin working with content providers to get movies and shows on the device, but that it was was "very unlikely" that Google would get into the content production business itself.
Still, Google is pressing on with its plans to roll out a set-top box from Logitech, a Google TV-enabled Blu-ray player from Sony, and a Sony HDTV with Google services built-in. The new $99 Apple TV is also set for release this fall (the end of September, to be exact); although it is still a very different product than what Google TV hopes to be, many TV-watching geeks will keep an eye on both.

Google Changes Coming Tomorrow - It's all about the HTML5 revolution
It looks like the Google event tomorrow will be all about search and the HTML5 revolution. Very interesting indeed.
What's HTML5? Find out with this search:
http://kb.clipotech.com/html5
We know Google is having a big search event tomorrow and we suspect that is why Google is showing the Google Balls logo today. Google told me "today's doodle is not related to a birthday but is fast, fun and interactive, just the way we think search should be."
So what will Google be announcing tomorrow? Well, based on that comment and what I have been seeing some people report, let me venture some guesses.
AJAX powered search results.
30 results per page
Streaming Results As You Type.
Bottom line, I really think tomorrow we will see Google's AJAX power search results be launched fully to the public. It will mean AJAX results, showing more results on a single page as opposed to just 10, and it will mean the results updating as you type a query. I am sure I am missing some changes, but we will find out tomorrow.
But as the Google Balls logo represents, it is about an HTML 5 revolution.

Google plans Sept 8 event, iTunes killer for Xmas
It could be an interesting event. Even if they not announce the Google Music Service.

As expectation of the Google Music service grows, the search giant has despatched invitations to a September 8 press event to sundry US journos, reports claim — though it doesn’t seem likely the company is setting the stage for the release of its iTunes-killer.
Instead the company is simply promising press a peek at its latest technological evolutoin and a chance to check in on the evolution of Google search.
The event is being held at San Francisco’s rather plush (I’ve been a few press events there) Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), inspiring some speculation that the company may plan on introducing improvement to Google Goggles its image-search app.

Is Android Only Surging Because Apple Is Letting It?
Obviously Apple would have sold a lot more iPhones if they were available on more carriers. That is probably why iPhone is number one in Sweden...
Found via my Curated Tech Twitter List: http://j.mp/twitech
Android has succeeded despite Google. In fact it’s safe to say that Android is successful for one primary reason. The iPhone is only available on AT&T. If the iPhone was on Verizon a year ago. Android would be no where near as popular.
Obviously, Beach isn’t the first person to bring this idea up. But he brings it up in a way that he’s able to back-up his feelings from a developers’ perspective, while at the same time roping in what isn’t ideal from a consumer perspective about Android as well.
This is going to sound like flame bait, and everyone knows that I love the iPhone — but I have to agree with Beach. I’ve used no less than six Android phones for extended periods of time over the past couple of years. I really am trying to like them. But I just can’t.
While I obviously understand that people have different tastes, I can’t see how you can objectively say that the overall experience of using an Android phone isn’t worse than using an iPhone. There are a dozen or more elements that are better about the iPhone. Everything from the big: the App Store versus the Android Market (from the consumer perspective) — to the little: the multi-touch and overall touchscreen responsiveness.
If the iPhone was on Verizon (which is a larger network, remember), is there any question that it would be selling at least double the amount of units it is right now in the U.S.? I don’t think so. What if it was available on all the networks? And what would happen to Android sales if that was the case? That is the big question here.
Next year, it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll get at least a partial answer. If the iPhone is available on Verizon or even just T-Mobile, will the pace of Android sales slow down in the U.S.?
I know a number of people who are Android users simply because of the iPhone/AT&T restriction. If and when the devices comes to Verizon, they will jump ship. The big question is: will millions of others follow? Or, perhaps more importantly, will millions of new users that would have gone with Android now go with iPhone?
It’s great that there is competition in the market right now. But would it be as fierce in the U.S. if it weren’t for the AT&T situation? Would most people just be using an iPhone? Beach states it as a fact, but I don’t think it’s an unreasonable question to consider. And it’s something I’m sure Google is considering as the Verizon iPhone approaches.

Apple sells over 6 million iOS devices/month
Interesting facts.
Found via this tweet:
http://twitter.com/informatory/statuses/23158155122
Apple has shifted over 120 million iOS devices so far, and seems set to add up to another 24 million or so to that number before the end of the year. Sales could be as high as 6 million devices each month, I estimate.
That estimate is my own conjecture based on the following:
- Apple is manufacturing 2 million iPads each month, rising to 3 million for the Holiday season.
- Apple is estimated to be selling 2 million iPhone 4 units each month.

- iPod touch accounts for around one-third of iOS devices, suggesting similar sales levels.
Google’s Music Service to Launch by Christmas
I will not use it if it's only for Android phones. I'm quite happy with Spotify.
Found via this tweet:
http://twitter.com/pingmicro/statuses/23166489622
Apple may get a nasty surprise this holiday season; rumors are swirling that Google’s Andy Rubin is planning on a holiday-season launch for the search behemoth’s new music download service.
According to a Reuters report, Rubin, the Google VP Engineering who oversees Android development, has been deep in talks with record labels and “hopes to have the service up and running by Christmas.”
Google’s service would be an iTunes challenger that would be deeply connected to the Android mobile operating system. As we reported over the summer, it seems the company plans to first launch a music download service and progress to an online subscription service by next year. Ultimately, “Google Music” would be a cloud-based subscription service with the ability to stream directly to Android mobile devices.

Success of Samsung Galaxy Tab Doomed by Carrier Contracts - Exactly
Why buy it?
It's dead already.
I posted about it earlier today:
http://svartling.amplify.com/2010/09/06/801/
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is the first tablet to come along that appears to be capable of challenging the Apple iPad. On paper, and in initial hands-on reviews, the Galaxy Tab is impressive, but the burden of carrier contracts may seal the unfortunate fate of the Samsung tablet before it even launches.
The iPad may not have front and rear-facing cameras, or an SD memory card slot like the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but it comes with something better--freedom from wireless contracts.
Read more at www.pcworld.com
The Samsung Galaxy Tab was unveiled in Germany last week, and it is set to launch first in Europe. Initial reports of pricing, though, are not encouraging. In Sweden, the Galaxy Tab will retail for the equivalent of nearly $1250 USD, while the price reported from O2 in Germany places it near $1000 USD. Keep in mind this is nearly $200 more than the top-end 64Gb iPad with Wi-Fi and 3G.

Curating Tweets: Can It Be Done? - yes, use amplify.com
It's too bad that Amplify never get mentioned in such articles like this.. Amplify is perfect for curating tweets. You can do that beautifully with the extension/bookmarklet.
You find the extension or bookmarklet here:
http://amplify.com/bookmarklet
When considering where to mine for value, one cannot ignore Twitter, although one might like to. I say this because I myself have felt the frustration of reading a section of the stream and only finding information of little to no relevance to me, despite my constant effort to cultivate and pare follows and group them in lists. Simple search may not be enough: when I enter a keyword, I am often met with a barrage of information ranging from spam to sham from users I have no prior connection with and, therefore, no basis upon which to assess the value of their contribution.
There may be some answers to these issues in the pipeline. Marshall Kirkpatrick at ReadWriteWeb writes about a new service that is not quite open to the public called Curated.by.
Curated.by is a tool that allows you to gather and share collections of tweets on topics of interest. Once the collections are created, you can share them, embed them on a web page, or, more imporantly, subscribe to the collections of other users.
I see two excellent uses for this tool: (1) create a list of valuable tweets that compliment your own expertise or subject matter and embed or share them with others to show your powers of curation; and (2) find the curated tweet lists of others whose opinions you value on given subjects so that you can cut down the time spent in Twitter finding the shiny stuff. This would be an example of personal serendipity with a slight lean toward search on the Relevance Matrix discussed in my prior post.
Mr. Kirkpatrick also notes in his post another curation service, this one for blogs, called Curated.info (link here). Curated.info collects and bundles blog subscriptions. Removes some of the heavy lifting if you can find bundles created by users who know what they are talking about.

Second Gear is about to release a new iPhone app, which I was lucky enough to test, that’s already been submitted to the App Store for Apple’s approval and should (hopefully) be available very soon.
The app is MarkdownMail, and as the name suggests it allows you to write in Markdown (in case you don’t know what I’m talking about, just take a look here) and export to HTML. Simple, yet functional and elegant. The icon is a thing of beauty – you’ll see. The interface of the app is minimal, and does exactly what it has to do: it provides a distraction-free environment where you can write and convert. That’s it.
