Rumor: Apple iPhone 5 will launch in Feb or March, 2011 - My Comment:
I don't believe in this rumor at all. Why should Apple release iPhone 5 so early? There is no reason at all for that. iPhone 4 is a perfect phone, and in my personal opinion: the best phone in the whole world. So why?

King & Allen - the iPad tailors - The best of the old meets the best of the new
This was a really good read.

High up in the inner sanctum of Savile Row sits Adam King co-owner of King & Allen bespoke tailors. Bright, smart in his flawlessly cut, slate blue, three button, single breast, double take, two-piece and surrounded by rolls of two twill Harris Tweed, velvety soft pin-striped Kanzada Cashmere, South African mohair and an oak hat stand and a chesterfield sofa in the background, he looks every bit the part. In fact, there’s just one tool of his trade that doesn’t quite fit with the scene - his iPad.
“It’s the best of the old meets the best of the new,” levels King proudly, every bit the modern gentleman, as he looks up from his iPad bearing Pocket-lint on the freshly fingered screen.
As well as ensuring high search rankings, King uses Google for its Alerts system allowing him to monitor forums and check that his customers are satisfied and, if their suits are being criticised, that at least what’s being said is factually correct.
Websites and internet marketing are of course all very well and good but it’s King’s iPad that’s got our attention. Quite how it fits into the cloth stitching trade is the reason we’re down there in the first place.
The iPad may be a rather expensive alternative to the pencil and paper but the app King & Allen use to do the job is certainly cut price. Documents to Go for the iPad is as complicated a piece of software that’s required to record and upload the tabular data although a glitzier way of doing things certainly has it’s appeal for King.

The fight is still on. The fight at the arena of smartphones is now extended to television set too. This is fight now between Google TV and Apple TV.
Here, one fact should be accepted that the Google is still at the beginning stage as Apple been into it since 2007. The point is not about when who is started and who is going to be successful and who is going to beat the other. Now, both the teams are geared up to prove their skills on the ten-foot interface. The success can reach to one who makes more difference than the other.
Here, the surprising factor is that the two protagonists are applying the same approach that was applied on the smartphones arena for this TV too. Here, Google TV made a step ahead over Apple through gaining entry into new TVs from Sony. This forward step is got a lot to bring the major difference. For this Apple TV’s answer is its set top box. Apple TV promising an array of features through this amazing set top box.
Both the contenders are trying to make a mark on the new arena and each got their favorable points to consider too. At the end of the day performance and support plays a vital role in reaching and staying with a customer. There are comments like a home theatre PC also can do what all these two contenders are offering now. But, at the same time TV is always special thing for a family and cannot be matched with a home theatre PC.
Apple has already launched the latest version of Apple TV, and Google should be making a presence later this month. The crown is waiting for a best media center and definitely it is a tough thing to finalize a winner. Now, a user is in big dilemma in choosing a right one. In fact, every current feature with each provider is down the line going to improve further well too. Keeping all these things in mind it is tough to finalize the right one between the two at this point of time.

http://s.svrt.se/webOS - HP Launching New webOS Handsets in Early 2011
webOS is a very interesting mobile OS for both Tablets and Smarphones.
But it's starting to be too many different OS now. I mean iOS and Android is the top of the line, but under them are MeeGo, webOS and QNX lurking..

As promised, HP will be unveiling new webOS phones soon. In fact, there is a chance we’ll be able to see some of them at CES given the time frame we’re supposed to be seeing the new smartphones – early 2011. Senior Vice President Eric Cador says, “You will see us coming early next year with new phones.” Good news for Palm and webOS fans who have been waiting eagerly for some new goodies.
Indeed, HP’s acquisition of Palm, and the resulting acquisition of webOS, is pretty big given the platform’s promise and usability. Although I’m curious to see what the final outcome will be now that Peter Skillman has left for MeeGo development over at Nokia.

Google is rolling out its Goggles product as part of an update to its iPhone suite, taking iPhone users right up to the bleeding edge of what even Google can achieve.
We say "bleeding edge" advisedly, as Google Goggles is a very ambitious attempt to trigger internet searches based on photographs, and one that (in our experience) barely works. The app is still officially a beta product, and has been available for Android for around a year, but now iPhone users can join the fun of taking photographs and then watching Google fail to identify them.

Does Firefox have what it takes to hold on to the 2 spot? - No

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is losing ground. Firefox has stagnated. Chrome is grabbing market share. Does the once darling of the browser market have what it takes to hold on to the #2 spot?
The data says it all really. Here’s is the usage share data for the top browser for September 2009 and September 2010.
In a year Chrome has managed to more than double its usage share at a time when the other major players are losing ground or barely able to hold onto the share they have.
Thought? Does Firefox have what it takes to maintain the #2 spot, or is Chrome inevitably doing to steal the spot?

Apple TV may not have native apps yet, but AirPlay provides a workaround to run apps on your TV — so long as those apps involve streaming video or audio.
Ars Technica’s Jacqui Cheng wasn’t able to try out video streaming to the Apple TV in full — that won’t be possible until iOS 4.2 ships in November — but in her extended review, she did unearth two important bits about AirPlay:
- With iOS 4.1, you can already easily stream audio to the Apple TV, including audio from movie files;

Rumor: iLife 11 to be 64-bit, iOS compatible
iLife, the software suite that is included on every Mac and is made up of iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb, and iDVD, hasn't been updated to a new version since January, 2009.
Now some sharp-eyed Apple fans have noticed that there's a book listed on the German Amazon site with the title "iLife '11: Digital pictures, movies, music and more" and a release date of December, 2010.
The translated description notes that the suite is entirely 64-bit, and that iPhoto will receive integration with social networking. iWeb has been "rewritten" from the ground up, and iDVD is no longer included with the suite.
The red banner on the cover mockup at left reads "iPhoto, iMovie and more, with Apps for Mac, iPhone 4, iPod and iPad," which implies that iOS versions of the applications will be available as well.Read more at www.tuaw.com

Google Buys BlindType to Keep it from Apple’s iPhone, iPad - Well maybe they did. We will see if it will be released for the iPhone when it's finished. Google Oct. 1 purchased BlindType, whose software may be
used on Apple's iPhone, iPad and Google Android devices to make typing easier,
for an undisclosed sum.
BlindType's app hasn't yet been released, but it should go a
long way toward improving the virtual keyboard input experience on Android smartphones,
which has largely lagged that of the iPhone.
It's likely Google made the move to keep Apple from buying the company, or at least ensure the technology doesn't make it onto the iPhone or iPad.

If scanning through Wikipedia pages to find out about something is too much of an effort, Qwiki, an upcoming service at the crossroads between Wolfram|Alpha and Youtube is definitely for you. Best of all, it’s coming to the iPad.
A “Qwiki” is a short, interactive story generated from content available on the web about any topic you want. Unlike traditional rich media content, all Qwikis are created on the fly from web sources (without any human intervention). You need to see it to understand (iDevice-friendly version):
The service itself is being geared to run initially through Qwiki’s website, and you can already sign up to join the Qwiki “Alpha”. More interestingly however, they’re working on an iPad app, and have showed a tiny bit of it to TechCrunch:

flud: best ipad news reader yet
Looks really great! I wish I had an iPad....
Find more info about flud with this search:
http://kb.clipotech.com/flud
I’ve played with a bunch of different news readers for my iPad, and while most of them seem to get the job done, I’ve only come across a couple which really take advantage of the iPad’s native capabilities. FLUD is one of the few out there which really do the iPad justice.
Unlike most readers which simply show a list of items from your RSS feeds, FLUD automatically selects images from feeds and displays them in a visually attractive format which suits fingertip interactions. Each story from your favorite sites is displayed as a thumbnail with its headline, and a simple finger swipe can be used to browse through stories quickly. Vertical swiping lets you browse multiple news sources, while horizontal swiping lets you browse individual posts from each feed. A tap on the thumbnail opens up the full story in a secondary pane.
Adding feeds is really easy, and you can either search through FLUD’s database of available feeds or sync up with your Google Reader account, selectively including feeds to show on the FLUD screen.
Overall, I’m very impressed by FLUD. It provides a really nice way to interact with your all your news on your iPad, converting RSS content into a format which is well suited to the iPad, while still allowing you to view the original web pages without leaving the app. You can grab FLUD over at the iTunes App Store now for just $3.99 (USD).

Tech Test Drive: Posterous, Tumblr should appeal to aspiring bloggers - Use Amplify!
This post is almost ridiculous. The author has no idea what he is talking about. And probably not heard of Amplify...
Amplify is so much better than both these blogging services.

If you're an aspiring blogger mulling where to host your posts, this has surely been a confusing week for you. The blogging-services world is in a state of upheaval.
Microsoft dropped a bit of a bombshell last week when it killed its Windows Live Spaces, its consumer-oriented blogging service, and pointed its users to the rival WordPress.com.
So, which blogging service should you use?
I
won't rehash the whole thing here. Instead, I'll focus on the two blogging services I like and use the most — Posterous and Tumblr. I've written about Posterous before, but I'm a recent Tumblr convert.
The two are superficially similar. Both are streamlined and simplified options for bloggers who don't care about the technical bells and whistles provided by other, nerdier services. Both have loyal followings, though Tumblr is a lot more popular, and both have a cutting-edge feel TypePad
has lacked for a long time.
So why do I use both? I've wrestled with that question, but realized the two services fill different needs for me. Posterous and Tumblr each have features I find essential, so I keep using both services, and anticipate doing so for a long time.
I also like Tumblr because it is a social network, a la Twitter and Facebook. If you like a Tumblr post, you can repost it on your site with or without comment with the click of a mouse or "like" it by clicking a little heart.
This, of course, is an option with Posterous as well as Tumblr. If you know your way around Cascading Style Sheets and the like, and have the time and patience to tinker, you can create a unique and fantastic-looking blog using either service. Good luck!

Apple Approves BitTorrent App For App Store
That was unusual by Apple.
Found via this tweet:
https://twitter.com/pingmicro/status/26170072861
Apple is known for the stringent guidelines it applies when deciding which software to allow into their App Store – BitTorrent is one of the things on their ban list. However, one developer who carefully avoided the dirty word “torrent” in the submission process, eventually managed to get a BitTorrent-related App approved by Apple.
For those wondering why there are no BitTorrent-related apps in the App Store, it is because Apple notoriously bans all applications that have anything to do with BitTorrent. Apple argues that BitTorrent is often used to infringe copyrights and that such applications are a no-go for the App Store, forcing developers to go to outlets such as Cydia.
Kepner wrote the App because he loves Imageshack’s Torrent Drive service, and found himself wanting to queue something up to his Torrent Drive account when he was out of the house. This is exactly what IS Drive is for, and it works seamlessly.
IS Drive is now available in the App store for $4.99 for all Imageshack torrenters.
