Ovi Maps Goes Social With Good Things

"A new update to the desktop web version of Nokia’s Ovi Maps has been rolled out, called ‘Good Things’. Basically, this is user-generated P.O.I’s, and it allows you to mark ‘good things’ that you know of on the map, and share those landmarks with the world."

- Nokia continues to go social.

That's a "good thing" I think :)

I've got an email from Andrew Dumont at Tatango. He tells me about a new mobile service that will be launching into private beta July 15th.

Tatango is a service that offers a simple and effective way for groups to communicate through their mobile phone. It allows any group to collect, manage and mobile message all of their contacts both from a computer and mobile phone. It doesn’t require any special phone or to download any programs to use the service. Check it out.

Mobile Service: Dashwire - Get your mobile stuff on your computer and the web

svartling on twitter This post is Tweeted And Buzzed by svartling:

Free mobile phone contact, photo, video and text message backup :: Dashwire

I've got an email from Ken Wall at Dashwire - Sync your mobile with the web. Looks to be a cool service.
Here is what he says about it:
Dashwire offers a "Connected Service" to help users take the contacts, text messages, calls, photos, videos, and settings from their mobile phones to their computers and the web, where they can backup their stuff, search & interact with their information, and share their experiences with friends and social sites like Facebook, Flicker, Twitter, FriendFeed, and more. Dashwire’s FREE service keeps the phone and the web constantly connected, so that the stuff done on one automatically shows up on the other in just a few seconds, offering:

* Automatic contact sync between your phone and the web
* Ability to read, reply, and create new text messages from your computer - threaded by conversation for an instant messaging-like experience
* Instant photo & video uploads from your phone to the web where you can view, edit, organize, and share with friends
* Single click media upload to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, FriendFeed & more
* Instant status updates directly to Facebook & Twitter
* Listen to visual voicemail on your computer
* Ability to set web favorites, ringtones & speed dials from your computer
* Automatic phone-to-phone transfer of contacts and settings

Up to this point, they have primarily focused on helping users effortlessly bring their mobile phone and content it captures up to the web. Starting with this week’s release, a major focus for us going forward will also be enabling users to bring the content they care about from the web instantly down to their phones, and allowing them to interact with it in a fast, new user interface.

Their new Dashwire Mobile release is the first of many big steps in this direction. Available on http://m.dashwire.com for Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6 (Symbian S60 beta on schedule for late summer), new features include:

* Graphical phone experience featuring user avatar, status updates, and media gallery
* Mobile access to photos & videos located on your Dashwire web account – even if the actual media files aren’t on your phone
* Photo uploads from your computer to your Dashwire web account, which then automatically appear on your phone
* Media editing, blogging, and sharing with friends – on the go as you’re capturing your experiences
* Direct status updates to Facebook & Twitter
* Privacy controls & media publishing

You can sign-up for an account by visiting http://dashwire.com and/or download the latest mobile client at http://m.dashwire.com. See an overview video here.

Social Networks: Great article about a new Social Network for Mobiles

svartling on twitter This post is Tweeted And Buzzed by svartling:

The startup behind the new application won’t let me disclose their name yet. But the application is awesome. It shows you everyone around you who has it installed on an iPhone (default privacy is set to off, but can be changed). Users can scroll through nearby users, and set filters for men, women or age ranges. If you find someone interesting you can pull up their profile and ping them. If they respond you can start a chat, on the phone or in person. Of course, they can also choose to block you. Via
